Cacao
The name given to both the tree on which “cocoa beans” grow and the beans themselves; also the species name (Theobroma cacao). ”Cacao” is from the Mayan word for the beans, though the origin of the word may go back further still. ”Cacao” and “cocoa” are more or less interchangeable in modern parlance.
