The oats have indeed been candied- with pure Vermont maple syrup- one big difference between the Fruit & Nut and the Granola. The concept with the Granola bar was to create a dark bar (since Fruit & Nut was the only dark offering) that could be considered a "healthy indulgence." We tried over 20 different granola recipes before deciding on one that lived up to the Five Star standard. You will be happy to know that a 6th Five Star Bar is in the works, and I'm confident that you will find this next one enough of a departure from the current five. Stay tuned!
